4. First Review paragraph of "Spring Awakening" from the NYT (Charles Isherwood): "As species go, the rock star is relatively young. Carbon dating has fixed its emergence from the primordial ooze of postwar pop at sometime in the 1950's, somewhere in the continental United States. So it is disorienting to find the 19th-century German schoolboys in the new musical "Spring Awakening" yanking microphones from inside their little woolen jackets, fixing us with baleful gazes and screaming amplified angst into our ears." ://theater2.nytimes.com/2006/06/16/theater/reviews/16awak.html?scp=2&sq=Spring+Awakening+musical+review+&st=nyt
5. The off-broadway production has a masked man. The broadway production had to cut him out. So basically, the off-broadway version is closer to the original script.
6. If I attend the musical I will be driving to...the Music Hall in downtown Kansas City anytime between October 13th-18th. Tickets are around $42.00 (Mom, we need to go see this.)
7. There is indeed an Amateur production available. You can purchase it through MTL.
8. David Rooney reports that, "There's not only the moral corruption of our youth, but the creeping sensuality of these liberal-minded times."
9. Franzen, fo sho.
